TV through Internet: Dad May Have Flatted The Box. The Kids Gave It Wings

.

Before it even took us to the moon and back, television was an expert at capturing the very essence of each generation. But since Neil Armstrong took that poignant first step, an entire generation has since taken a giant leap of their own. Raised on the Internet, Generation Z didn’t just take TV out of this world, they sent it flying into a whole other dimension. And TV through Internet is their flagship.

.

Audiences are no longer content to let television dictate when and what they watch, where or how. They watch what they want, when they want. Television may have given broadband life, but the fibre optic cable that inevitably lead to us to watch TV through Internet has since begun to strangle its predecessor. Hordes of websites now post countless links to TV programmes available on the Internet via laptops and iPhones from homes and offices to the backseats of cars.

TV through Internet has revolutionised our relationship with television.

Sure we were smitten with Cable. It was the perfect girl next door. She played sport. ESPN. She babysat the kids. Nickelodeon. She encouraged you to think. Discovery Channel. And she made you laugh. Sky Movies. But the excitement didn’t last. How could it? You were paying her.

And she wasn’t cheap. Subscriptions were ongoing. As were the problems with broadcast quality. Transmission was erratic. Programmes jigged. Pictures froze. You spasmed. Kids cried. You cried. Soon it was like living with an uncool dad. It retold the same tedious story time and again. It was irrelevant. Outdated. And oh so predictable.

But Generation Z nixed predictability.

So too traditional TV schedules. They’re too impatient. Instant results and immediate satisfaction are second nature in an online world. The Internet is older than they are and technology strives to keep them fed. Generation Z doesn’t live for their favourite television through Internet. TV through Internet lives for them.

Glee downloads run wild spiking tweets. Idol and Gossip Girl streams tear up the net. Family Guy has been cancelled twice and reborn due to online demand. Increasingly, incalculable links lead surfers to access TV through Internet as they search for programmes dad’s TV has never even heard of. Programmes like Modern Family, Archer and The Middle. In fact more audiences now watch their favorite TV through Internet than those still waiting for TV to schedule their wishes in.

But TV through Internet isn’t perfect.

There are goods links and there are bad links with plenty of distorted blurry videos and unsynchronised audio as well as an epidemic of bootlegs. However, good quality pictures are there to be found. Websites offer an orgy of TV programmes through Internet. And they offer them anywhere, anytime for anyone who thinks to look.
